while my game isn't quite good enough (yet) to need to know if the pin is 87 yards out vs. 85 1/2 yards (which this is apparently accurate enough to tell you), i do benefit from knowing that the green is in the general vicinity of 85 - which is fortunate, because if needed to know precisely I'd have to mount this thing on a tripod - the hand-held aspect of aiming at something a hundred or so yards away means that (at least in MY hands) you're going to be lucky to get the same reading twice. Which isn't to say that this is not a useful tool - like i said, i only need to know ABOUT how far i am to pick the right club --- and then i can use the 8x scope to see if i hit it up next to the hole!

I felt the product should be more clearly marked. For example stating that the item needs a special lithium battery, so that if the item was purchased as a gift as the one I purchased was, I could have also purchased the battery. This made for a very unpleasant Christmas for myself and the person I purchased the gift for. I can not rate this product until I purchase the battery.

I love my I-On range finder and use it all of the time. This is the only device that I have owned but it does exactly what I need it to do and appears to be very accurate. The unit has a "reflector" mode that allows you to easily pick-up a pin (containing reflectors) within 250 yards. You have to have a steady hand to get a non-reflective pin outside approximately 125 yards. In my opinion, laser range finders are better than GPS devices like Sky Caddy for two reasons: 1) you can use the laser on the practice range to determine your exact distances with each club and 2) there are no worries about uploading courses into your device.

I am not disappointed with it, because I did not expect the same result of $400 raser finder from this low price one. It is helpful to measure the distance in the field. Ironically, the real problem is that I can't hit the ball as far as I measure.

Customer Review: Bushnell X500 Rangefinder - For Golf
Purchased one after demonstration at a pro shop. Found it to be absolutely useless during a round at another course. Turns out that all of the flags were changed to reflective white for the demo. On a real course, cannot give yardage to a flag beyond 100-125 yards if the color of the flag is not white. Very weak laser mechanism, frequently cannot give distances to bunkers. Good for yardages to trees if you aim 10-20' feet up at the foliage, not the trunks. Returned this unit and compared the Bushnell Yardage Pro Tour and Pinseeker 1500 w&w/0 slope. Yardage Pro Tour is also useless for golf. Either version of the Pinseeker 1500 is terrific and what a rangefinder should be. Purchased Pinseeker 1500 w/slope. Do not scrimp, save your money for a Pinseeker 1500 and you will be happy. Might be OK for hunting, but NOT FOR GOLFERS!
